Taking its inspiration from the Bauhaus, the school for crafts and fine art in Weimar, NeueHouse is a unique co-working space that has opened in the middle of Manhattan, at New York.
NeueHouse’s co-working – a breathtaking decor
Destined for entrepreneurs and designers, this huge collaborative workspace was opened in 2011 by Joshua Abrams, Alan Murray and James O’Reilly. The five floors of NeueHouse have been completely refurbished and tastefully lit by architect David Rockwell. The ceilings, at nearly 6 metres, are wonderfully high and take the form of a vast slab within which different workspaces are delineated, completed by huge sofas, a dramatic wooden staircase, glass partitions and conference rooms equipped with the latest technology. Not forgetting the remarkable bookcases everywhere, loaded with art books. Both theatrical and designer in effect, this place is a work bubble permanently buoyed by a creative hum.
In this 5000 square metre cocoon and temple to design, members can use a bar, and organic canteen, alcoves laid out for interviews and meetings and designer desks and tables where they can let their creative juices flow. Creative Director and partner, Michelle Grey is also editor of the NeueJournal, the media platform for members of NeueHouse. In this exceptional setting, where business unendingly reinvents itself, the young entrepreneurs enjoy access to an amazing monthly programme: visits by major figures in the arts, culture and sciences, film projections, plays, round table discussions, poetry readings and concerts.
There are no tenants in NeueHouse. To enjoy the creative hum here you have to be invited to join or have put yourself forward for selection. Whether engineers, artists or IT wizards, the happy chosen few are above all inquisitive, open-minded and creative. Entrepreneurs and designers can rent workspaces, a personal office or even a small room for their team of four to eight people. Breathtaking design and personalized fixtures and fittings for future Manhattan executives. NeueHouse – welcome to the latest generation co-working palace.
