Since it was founded in 1780, Chaumet has established itself as one of the great French jeweller’s.
Thein the Place Vendome is the historic home of this brand.
The workshops are still there, with around fifteen craftsmen working on Chaumet’s new collections, (jewellery, watches…).
The history of the house is closely linked to the history of France. Its founder, Marie-Etienne Nitot, made the jewellery for Napoleon Bonaparte’s marriages, firstly to Josephine de Beauharnais and then to Marie-Louise de Habsburg-Lorraine. A portrait of the latter, wearing her Chaumet jewels, greets the visitor as they enter the store.
