Based in Paris, New York and Zurich, the Galerie Lelong was started by Jacques Dupin, Jean Frémon and Daniel Lelong in 1981.
Opening in New York in 1985 and moving to the Chelsea neighbourhood in 2001, the Galerie Lelong is a contemporary art gallery and presents world famous artists. These include Antoni Tàpies, Joan Miró, Jannis Kounellis, Francis Bacon and Pierre Alechinsky among those who have contributed to the gallery’s reputation.
Under the direction of Mary Sabbatino, the Galerie Lelong has an important publishing arm. In the interests of bringing the diversity of the artists’ work to public attention, the gallery publishes many well annotated catalogues, aimed at illustrating the breadth of their creativity.
This gallery has been a major champion of Latin American contemporary art and also participates in the main international contemporary art fairs.
