In 1875, Arthur Lasenby Liberty founded Liberty & Co, in its distinctive Tudor revival building, selling fabrics and silk goods imported from across the British Empire.
Subsequently the department store built up its stock of designer labels and Liberty & Co became a forerunner of the concept store. You will find fabrics and clothing there but equally there are tapestries, accessories and jewellery. Liberty & Co is famous from day one for selling their trademark, and still fashionable flowered fabrics.
