Thirty-five years after its opening on Broadway, the famous musical Dreamgirls London is on stage at the Savoy Theatre, London, from 19th November – 21th October 2017.
Dreamgirls London: in the footsteps of the trio from Chicago
A really sensational show, Dreamgirls London whisks the audience back to a revolutionary time. At a key moment in the history of American music, young and old can follow the tumultuous journey of a young female singing trio from Chicago, called The Dreams. Through this breathtaking show, the audience is transported to the world of show business, as tough as it is fabulous. Choreographed by the Tony and Olivier award-winning Casey Nicholaw, it arrives on the London stage with Amber Riley (Glee) playing Effie White.
From Broadway to London
With star casting and iconic songs such as And I am Telling You I’m not going, I am Changing, One Night Only and Listen, against an American backdrop, it has everything you could want to make it a good night out. After playing for the first time at the Imperial Theater, Broadway, the show Dreamgirls was adapted for the cinema in 2006, with stars like Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson. After 35 years and 13 awards, including 2 Grammys, 6 Tonys and 5 Drama Awards, the musical Dreamgirls now returns to the stage at the Savoy Theatre, much to the joy of its audiences.
