In the northeast of Paris there are music venues and places of entertainment in the Pere Lachaise – Ménilmontant neighbourhood. Not part of the typical Parisian Haussmann ‘look’, the building facades are more austere, sometimes embellished by artists. The district is known above all for the Pere Lachaise Cemetery. Many famous people are buried here: the graves of Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf and Oscar Wilde mean that many tourists visit it.
Also worth seeing: the Bellevilloise, a concert hall loaded with working class history; the Hermitage Pavilion, the last building remaining from the neighbouring Bagnolet domain.
