Located in East London, near Victoria Park, is Shoreditch, a post-industrial district east of the City of London. There are numerous bars, restaurants and trendy clubs jostling amongst Shoreditch’s narrow lanes and today it is one of London’s best known and most fun areas for shopping.
Shoreditch was originally a modest neighbourhood but in recent decades it has become one of the most bustling areas of London, much prized by artists, especially street artists who have transformed it with their paintings and graffiti. You can find many unique design galleries and workshops here.
Try crossing Kingsland Road, much favoured by artists, near Hoxton Square, or stroll down Rivington Street where you’ll find a wide choice of eclectic and fashionable shops.
Also worth visiting: Dennis Severs House, a museum devoted to recreating the lives of a family of Huguenot silk weavers; Columbia Road Flower Market, one of the best flower markets in London; the Geffrye Museum, which specialises in the history of the English domestic interior.
