Marylebone is an upmarket district near in central London which covers the area around Marylebone High Street. There are several pedestrian streets in the Marylebone area, lined with affluent houses, much sought after by celebrities. It has often been compared to Paris’ 7th arrondissement, because of its numerous French residents.
Also worth visiting: Oxford Street, which is London’s major shopping street; Madame Tussaud’s, the famous waxwork museum; the Sherlock Holmes Museum; the Wallace Collection of art; London Zoo and the smart district of Paddington with its mews (small lanes lined with beautifully restored houses, once stables) and streets. Paddington is also bounded by two parks: Regent’s Park, one of the finest in London, lies to its north and Hyde Park to its south.
