The King’s Cross district, once an industrial wasteland, is being completely renewed today, as the opening of Central St Martin’s University of the Arts and the building of many new offices and flats demonstrate. King’s Cross Station is one of London‘s main train terminals and has just been renovated. Constructed much like an airport terminal, there are numerous shops on the ground floor and restaurants with direct access to the trains on the first floor.
Islington is another trendy district, not far from the City of London. A sought after residential location near to central London and major transport hubs, Islington also has many attractive Georgian and Victorian houses.
Also worth visiting: St Pancras Station is a Victorian architectural masterpiece in the Gothic style; the Regent’s Canal which crosses central north London and is lined with restaurants and galleries and has a market nearby; the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art; the London Canal Museum, which presents the history of London canals.
